Mark mark mark, then mark some more.
I'm attempting to make something unusual and purty for the spouse's company holiday party. I thought I'd try the Vintage Vogue 2859 blouse. It's a reissued, not from my vintage pattern stash though someday I'll have the guts (I hope) to dive into some more of those.
I'm hoping to make it eventually with this lovely sequined stuff I got at Joann (of all places). I will wear a black camisole underneath, of course, and a black satin pencil skirt that I intend to make also. (I realize that's not the same era as the 30s blouse but that doesn't bother me.)
I made a muslin from some random vintage fabric in my stash. It's a knit but it's not very stretchy so it shouldn't be too different.
The neckline was difficult to get right and I'm pretty sure this blouse is ONLY going to look great if its perfect so I'm going to have to be a lot more careful on the final blouse. I think the trick is MARKING!! Mark, mark, mark. Mark every dot, triangle and square.
I'm also thinking about adding about 3 or 4 inches to the bottom. It just feels weird to me to stop right at the waist there. And the sleeves are too long. On me, and just in general. It makes your arms look short when wide sleeves hit at the elbow, I think.
The back (I read you can wear it either way.):
